Repertoire: food and drink

Post by peter kingston »

Has anyone any suggestions for items (unaccompanied) for a chamber choir concert with the loose theme "food and drink" , please?

Some ideas:

Here's what searching on Ale and Beer turned up in case any of it interests you:

There's also Ravenscroft:

(there may be others too)

Beer:

More involving grapes:

Comparing people to food, there's Quam Pulchra Es that compares breasts to grapes, e.g.:

The Lord gathered me like grapes:

And in my food they put gall and gave me vinegar to drink? Several settings of the Improperium text; I esp. like this one:

Too bad the chocolate-related pieces on CPDL won't work for you (both call for accompaniment, and one is a solo piece).

But searching on apples will have results including Billings, Palestrina etc.

How about J.P. Rameau's Avec du Vin Endormons Nous?
