Re: Database access problems on site
Patience and persistence? I've had similar access problems (including the Cloudflare "Gateway timeout" page, which is almost certainly exactly what it says, rather than disguising a problem with old browsers), which appears to be down to bots aggressively crawling the site, making life dif...

Re: File uploading problems
I'm now trying the Opera browser, which is still failing, but gives a different error message: This site can’t be reached The web page at https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Special:Upload might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_ACCESS_DENIED So, from thi...

File uploading problems
I'm attempting to upload a new edition of a work I posted almost 10 years ago (first of several). All goes swimmingly on the AddWorkForm up to the point when I need to upload a file. Pressing the "Upload File" button results in the message: Safari can't open the page "https://www.cpdl...

Re: Database access problems on site
I'm still seeing the same Service unavailable message. Same problem as in the thread "503 Service unavailable" started on 27 July 2024, and this thread from September?

Looks as if things have gone downhill again. Another attack within 3 hours of the previous one?

Re: Identifying an unknown composer
That is brilliant. Thank you very much!
Clearly searching on Wikipedia for "Miles Moss" (or anywhere else for that matter) isn't the same as "Miles-Moss"!
So that's one more to be added to the ever-expanding list of works to reset ...

Identifying an unknown composer
Many years ago I acquired at least part of the stock of a travelling music salesman (A different world where someone could make a living by travelling around the country selling sheet music! ). Some of those pieces have now seen the light of day again on CPDL, but there are a few interesting...

Walford Davies: Surname or full name?
I'm at long last returning to the wonderful world of CPDL, and will soon be posting a work by Walford Davies. When I was looking for his composer page I didn't find it under D, but W. This came as something of a surprise as the Wikipedia article refers to him as Davies, and a note on the Talk: page ...

Re: Vanishing table sorting
How did I miss that?
It looks as if I have made the same error in several places: "find and fix" time, I think!

Vanishing table sorting
Does anyone know what has happened to the table sorting functionality in (e.g.) http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Carols_for_Choirs_1 ? The last time I looked (about a year ago), the contents table was sortable on each column. The line {|class="wikitable sortable" at the start of the tabl...

Lyricists births and deaths
Can it be possible to categorise Lyricists under year of birth/death as can happen with composers? The idea has been floated already here: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Category_talk:Lyricists but it appears not to have set the world on fire. As matters stand at the moment, any birth year entry...

Re: broken link
Peter not only has a number of editions on CPDL, but I have finally completed migrating all the files to the CPDL server
I think all the links are in place; please let me know if I have missed some bits.
Now to get on with submitting new works ...

Re: Misspelling of Composer's name
I have, just under 5 minutes ago, completed the uploading of files and correcting links for the Evening Service in F minor (Alan Gray) (including the composer page). Having checked back to the Stainer & Bell edition I used as source, I can confirm the ambiguity of spelling was a foul-up on my pa...

Re: Can an uploaded file be renamed?
I was going to use your method, but someone (I cannot imagine who
) has got there already.
Presumably, next time I mess up, the template code is simply inserted at the top of the offending page.

Can an uploaded file be renamed?
I am in the process of uploading files to the CPDL server, to replace the content of my old web site. Over-enthuseastic use of the delete and backspace keys has resulted in a file being called "Wood-Nunc.pdf", not the intended "Wood-Nunc-G.pdf". Can I rename the file, or is it a ...
