Re: Public Domain in Canada...?

Yes, I have the octavo of the SAB version, and it is marked (c) 1953. That wouldn't result in the original SATB version (published in 1923) being renewed, though. What I've done is use the 1923 SATB version to create a 2 PT Mix edition of my own.

Re: Public Domain in Canada...?

Thanks for the information. I'll put it on IMSLP and leave it at that, because I know the source material is public domain in Canada. What a pain! I am so angry that our copyright laws are going to be changing soon. (Stupid treaty!). "WIth a voice of singing" was published in 1923; however...

Public Domain in Canada...?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't explicitly find the answer anywhere. I've just finished a 2-PT Mixed arrangement of a work by Martin Shaw. In Canada, Shaw's works entered the public domain in 2008. Can I upload my arrangement on CPDL? I know I can put it on IMSLP. Thank-you.

Multi-Category Search Feature Requests

I'd like to suggest the following improvements to the multi-category search feature: Allow for searches by number of voices without requiring a sub-category, or allow for multiple sub-categories to be selected. For example, if I'm looking for 3-part mixed voices, I would like to get the results for ...

Re: I found a work with two pages... now what?

Thanks very much. I'll try to remember "merging template" for next time. I wasn't sure if it was something I had to move myself!

I found a work with two pages... now what?

While scrolling through the 'new' submissions to CPDL, I spotted a Rheinberger Mass listed as "Missa op.62" ( http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Missa_op.62_(Josef_Rheinberger) ). Curious, I checked it out and discovered that it is actually the Missa Puerorum, which already has an entry he...

Re: What is the function of a choral anthem in worship servi

This is strange. Is your congregation not part of a larger church which has experts in liturgy? Hah! No, this particular congregation is part of the United Church of Canada, which has very diverse worship across the country... and very diverse theology, too. I'm thankful to work with a congregation...

Re: Where to listen music of Josquin des Prés?

emusic.com has a huge catologue of classical music, and the subscriptions are quite affordable. They are a pain in the butt for some things, though (can't download tracks over 10 minutes unless you download the entire album, horrible search functions), but I manage to find a lot of hard-to-find musi...

Re: Handel Chandos Anthem #3

There is another edition available at the International Music Score Project Library: http://imslp.org/wiki/Psalms,_1_%28Handel,_George_Frideric%29 That said, the tenor parts are still in tenor clef, but if you want the whole score, it might be helpful. Alternatively, you could visit http://www.learn...

Hello,

I've checked out the "User Control Panel" and the FAQ, and I can't seem to find instructions on how to change my forum password. Sorry!

What is the function of a choral anthem in worship services?

Full Question: What is the function/intent/purpose of a choral anthem in today's mainstream Protestant worship service? Why do we do it? By "anthem", I mean a short composition (<10 minutes) sung by the choir rather than the entire congregation. In the tradition I come from, this is usuall...

Platée by Rameau -> English Libretto & La Folie's arias

Hi folks, I have a special request... I had the delightful opportunity to attend a performance of Platée at Palais Garnier this past December, and I would like to get my hands on some useable music from the opera. I have yet to find a libretto translated into English. I did manage to find the comple...

You know, if you track down an email address for Allen, he might even send you a preview copy by .pdf. He's a nice guy: you should buy his music.

Nanaimo, BC - November 29, 2009

The Island Consort presents “Music, As Through A Kaleidoscope” on Sunday, November 29th at 7:30 PM at Brechin United Church. This small chamber choir will be joined by Charles Wolzien - classical guitarist, and members of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra. The program includes a number of selections fro...
