Re: AddWorks form probs
Hi Annabel, Please try again, however, as the files have been uploaded already, just run the "AddWork" form, and complete the form by entering the precise names of the files you uploaded (do not upload them again - ignore the "upload now" button): Magnificat -primo- - Full Score....

Re: Music without words
I don't think that these works by Mancinus are truly instrumental: most of them are "bicinia", i.e., two-voice works that may be used as exercises for voice or instrument (e.g., one may sing them with "la la la" or whatever else); others are more clearly written for multiple huma...

Re: Does CPDL want my performing editions?
Hi Maia, Thank you for considering to contribute to CPDL! CPDL is "free" in both directions: anybody can freely download sheet music provided by CPDL contributors; and anybody can contribute to CPDL with their own editions. So, please feel free to upload your contributions! I'd just sugges...

Re: SQL option for CPDL
The CPDL ChoralWiki makes use of the MediaWiki software, i.e., the same software used by Wikipedia and by many other wiki websites. The MediaWiki software is actually conceived to manage a collaborative encyclopedia, not a music library, and therefore the data structure underneath is not natively se...

Re: unable to login / Mediawiki issue
The backtrace information were crucial: you are using the Modern skin, and the problem was similar to the problem previously encountered with the Cologne Blue skin, i.e, these relatively old skins are not bundled any more with the MediaWiki software, so they may require to be updated manually, at le...

Re: unable to login / Mediawiki issue
Unfortunately I can't reproduce the problem, using either Chrome or Firefox (although I work under Windows, so the situation is not fully comparable). I guess that your computer may be passing something wrong to the server, maybe originated from something cached locally. I can just suggest to clear ...

Re: unable to login / Mediawiki issue
Could you please try again? Does the problem occur immediately when you click on the "Request account" link, or at a later step?

Re: Add new work / Add new edition not working
Could you please try again? It seems that the new version of the MediaWiki SW recently installed has a strange behavio(u)r when certain languages are selected (for example, French or German) with respect to other languages (for example, English or Italian). I've now implemented a workaround for that...

Re: Pre-Romantic poetry settings
I think that Francesco Petrarca may be certainly regarded as a "notable poet", at least here in Italy. There are quite a few choral settings of his poems that were written by pre-romantic composers: https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Francesco_Petrarca I think that many others can be foun...

Re: Withdrawal of work
That will mean that it would be as if I'd never submitted it to the website in the first place. Is that right? No, it isn't right. Anyone can use the old version of the work according to the original license conditions, for ever, and regardless the work is withdrawn or not. I suggest to publish the...

Re: Best copyright type for self-published work
I guess that they want to know what kind of license you plan to use because they want to evaluate the price of the license to you. I wonder if it would increase my chances of having my request approved if I used something more standard and official, like the CPDL license. Yes, definitely, and I thin...

Re: AddWorks form probs
The so-called "automated process" to add new works/editions was introduced by me at the end of year 2013. From 2008 to 2013, when only the "manual process" was available, the average number of new editions added yearly was around 2,500. From 2014 to 2022, i.e., after the introduc...

Re: Withdrawing editions
The withdrawal of an edition published on CPDL has no practical effects: the copies already downloaded remain subject to the original license conditions, so they may be re-published everywhere (even on CPDL again) by anybody, as well as performed, recorded, etc., provided that the original license c...

Re: Each composer a lyricist?
When a new composer page is created, the "Add work" procedure just invokes the standard template that exists to create a new composer page, i.e., Template:New composer . The LyricistSettingsList template was added to it in July 2022 by BarryJ. I'm not sure about the pros and cons. I think ...
