Re: A Copyright Issue
Just an update on this. I explained the position to the choir. They also appreciate the help and advice I have received here, so I convey their thanks too. However, rather than have me upload their old performance again, they have asked me to allow then to make a fresh video They feel they can do be...

Re: A Copyright Issue
@ Choralia,
Brilliant, Max. I will proceed as you suggest.
It will take me a little while as I am caught up in choir matters probably for the rest of the week. The weekend, however, would be a good time to get going on it!
David.

Re: A Copyright Issue
@ Chris, I will certainly look into asking YT, but I am not optimmistic that I will get an answer. It will take a while as I have to give what time I have available to preparation for my choirs. @ Carlos, I subscribed to Vimeo, but am not at all impressed with it. :( The site is opaque. Granted, I a...

Re: A Copyright Issue
I have been through the YT procedure again. They will accept a counter claim only in the case where they have removed an item. In this case they did not remove the posting. I did, to avoid hassle. However, were I to pursue a counter claim, then they would happily pass on all the details they have on...

Re: A Copyright Issue
I am learning about copyright, so I greatly appreciate the trouble you have gone to with your postings. I can understand that an 'edition' can derive a rights of its own. The problem here is, that short of having an ability with a crystal ball, how is one supposed to know all possibile such editions...

Re: A Copyright Issue
@Choralia & Vaarky, thank you for your answers, I scanned through Youtube's pages. Although I wasn't absolutely certain, it looked like I would have to challenge the copyright claim to find out who was making it. I understood that this could be leaving me open to defending my position at law. Th...

A Copyright Issue
Last December my choir performed the Bortniansky Kheruvimskaya Pesn No 7 in concert. It was a good performance, so I decided to upload it onto Youtube. It remained there for a couple of months, but one day I noticed there was a possible copyright claim against it. At this stage I let matters rest, a...

Re: Christmas Carol Performance
It's the Collegiale St. Michel in Castelnaudary, in the Languedoc. The acoustic is very liquid, but the sound bounces off stone groins that support the ceiling ,and does strange things as a result. Most interesting from the conductor's point of view is the delayed echo that comes in from behind. Thi...

Christmas Carol Performance
My choir sang my composition, a setting of the Nicholas Vachel Lindsay poem Star of my Heart, in one of its Christmas performances. Here's a link to it. Hope you enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIuAO8mBrbk The pronunciation may sound a bit strange - it is a French choir. The composition is ...

Re: Curious
Thanks, Robert. I had no idea there was such a workload to get through. In fact, with my capacity for messing up the simplest action on a computer, I was thinking along the lines that I had got me into another fine mess.
I'll keep an odd eye on that page. to see how things are progressing.

Re: Curious
Sorry to be a bother.
I thought I had uploaded some pieces - about 4 days ago. I got an indication that they were somewhere in the CPDL system, but so far nothing has shown up.
Are they being vetted for copyright, or have I made a mess up?

Re: Curious
The perennial question of copyright doesn't raise it head insofar as the music setting of 'Star of my Heart' is concerned. It is my work, so any rights pertaining to it would be mine. However, the text is a poem by Nicholas Vachel Lindsay. He died in 1931. In Europe that means his work is in the pub...

Re: Curious
Hello Chuck, Thank you for your kind remarks on 'Star of my Heart'. It was a little difficult for French speakers to get perfect diction, but we didn't do so badly, I trust. I am delighted that you have mentioned the carol setting in choral circles. Thank you for that kindness. If you wish to publis...
