Re: Imperfect pitch
Richard Mix has convinced me that "original key" is the best choice to replace "original pitch" since it takes into account modal music which is sometimes notated with differing key signatures for the same written notes.

Re: Imperfect pitch
Indeed, whatever key signature is used, a work may be performed with A=440 (modern pitch) or A=418 (often used for performing early music) or with A="just about anything" ... and these refer to "pitch" ... whereas key signature is notation and may or may not be transposed to anot...

Re: Imperfect pitch
Why not "Original key" or "Original key signature"?

Re: Finale 2012 doesn't appear in
Finale 2012 was released in the summer of 2011, just as previous "annual" editions were released in their prior years. This is in keeping with U.S. automobile manufacturers rolling out the new model year several months before the calendar year begins. Curiously, there was no Finale 2013, a...

Re: Choral score by Kodaly
... This page also contains titles and samples of many Hungarian folksongs that may have been transcribed/arranged by Kodaly. 19 of them include the word "esö", i.e., "rain" in Hungarian. Maybe you can find one that sounds similar to the Estonian version available to you. Max He...

Re: Settings for youtube videos?
Hi Maggie, Although the 5 flat key signature of "I laid me down" is nominally D-flat major or B-flat minor, the music you are writing has a wonderful modal character that seems to be really Dorian. If the piece were transposed down a half-step, there would be no sharps or flats in the key ...

Re: Settings for youtube videos?
Hi Maggie ... nice video, nice piece of music! :D I wondered, though, why you have (usually the tenor line) going back and forth between B-flats (from the key signature) and B-naturals, when C-flats instead of B-naturals might be a little more idiomatic and less confusing (especially when there is n...

Re: CAPTCHA problem
Perhaps asking the user to 'complete the number pattern by providing the missing entry' would be a more intuitive way of phrasing the CAPTCHA question. On a related note ...
