Proposed reform of Orlando di Lasso page(s)

I have been working for some time to try to put the works of Orlando di Lasso into order by publication date. I still have a little cleanup to do, but I want to present the idea. First is this page , which is an updated list of publications, already at the bottom of the composer page. Second is this...

Re: Composer versus arranger for parodies

I guess you are using the term "parody" in its serious sense? (I don't use it in that sense, though.) If so, then the discussion might include psalm-tunes harmonized (or re-harmonized) by Thomas Ravenscroft, John Dowland, Thomas Tallis, and others. And there are many, many cases in early A...

Re: Translation versus paraphrase

Thanks, Carlos.
I have changed Template.Paraphrase on the text page to Template.Translation, and marked the template and category for deletion, as you suggested.

Translation versus paraphrase

I wrote a free paraphrase of http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Wie_schön_leuchtet_der_Morgenstern ; I would rather call it a "paraphrase" rather than a "translation" because I took some liberties with the text to get it to fit the meter, including ignoring some German words, and...

Re: Lyricist pages: LyricistSettingsList

Done! I had to simplify the template somewhat to get it to work, it may need changes.
Also got the Isaac Watts and Henry Alline pages done. What do you think?
Thanks again!

Re: Lyricist pages: LyricistSettingsList

Hi Carlos,
Thanks very much! I would like to give the template a try; I need the practice. (I have a beginning at this page) May I get back to you if I need help? :)

Re: Lyricist pages: LyricistSettingsList

Hi Carlos, Thank you for the history, it explains a lot. Yes, having a manually maintained lyricist page is what I had in mind, so that users can easily see texts and their sources. I don't see the need for very many of them, less than ten, perhaps (and I have been working on a draft of the Isaac Wa...

Lyricist pages: LyricistSettingsList

Hello, The template LyricistSettingsList is commonly used on Lyricist pages. I propose a new template for large-content pages, in the style of certain text pages (the Psalms, for example), that are partially automated using the template TextAutoList and the hidden category Text pages with automated ...

Re: Automating composer pages: Columns

Thank you very much!
This helps a bunch.
I've tried this on several pages, and it works well (better distribution of columns than my dpl script).
Is this documented somewhere in CPDL?

Re: Automating composer pages: Columns

That makes sense, although
{{#SortWorks:<subcategory>|cols=<number of columns>}}
might be more consistent with other functions and templates.
But if you've already made the change, go with it.
Thanks!

Re: Automating composer pages: Columns

Thanks, Max! That helps a lot.
I have noticed that the length of work titles varies a lot. So it would help me if the editor could set the number of columns in {{#SortWorks:}}, perhaps defaulting to the current rules.
Thanks again.

Automating composer pages: Columns

I am trying to automate composer pages, several of which have >50 works in a subcategory. Is there a way to arrange columns below {{#SortWorks:}}? I created a dpl script with columns (see http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Oliver_Holden ), but unfortunately it isn't accepted as automation -- the Rec...

Automating composer pages

I have organized several composer pages chronologically, by publication dates. In order to automate this, I have attempted to compose a template ( http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/User:Bcjohnston523/Automating%20Oliver%20Holden%20page ) called WorkDateList. It's my first attempt at writing DPL, so...
