Re: Public Domain in Canada...?
Here's what seems to be the problem. The original Curwen copyright on the SATB edition was in 1923 in the UK, not the USA. Works first published with a copyright notice outside the US were subject to the same renewal rules as works published inside the US, meaning that if a work’s original copyright...

Re: Looking for "liturgy music" but not sure what it is properly called
You might do well to visit the MusicaSacra Forum of the Church Music Association of America (CMAA) which, although mainly connected with Catholic liturgical and sacred music, nonetheless has a significant Anglican following and participation.

Re: CPDL in the news
Thanks, Carlos. I recall seeing that dissertation when it came out. There is an even newer dissertation by Cindy Bauchspies, D.M.A. from the University of Maryland: ABSTRACT Title of Dissertation: TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THE BEST CHORAL REPERTOIRE FROM THE GREAT COMPOSERS: MASTERWORKS AVAILABL...

Re: Jose Miguel Galan editions
This is a good way to proceed, Simona. I'm all for it, and it beats just sitting back and waiting or hoping that more contributors will submit the PDF scores directly rather than externally.

Re: Jose Miguel Galan editions
This is yet one more reason for CPDL to encourage strongly (if not to require) that PDF scores of works be retained here, on site, at CPDL and these links provided on score pages. The increasingly frequent occurrence of broken links to externally hosted scores and the difficulty - or unfortunate imp...

Re: Proposal to rename Bach's cantatas
On the Bach composer page, right under the List of Choral Works heading is a link to a page with the Bach cantatas sorted by BWV number. The URL is http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Joha ... f_cantatas

All the wiki's produce the grey globe for me, and I use Firefox. Maybe it's a question of clearing your cache?

Re: disconnected file
I don't know what was wrong with the original link, but I happened to have a copy on my computer. So I uploaded it and changed the link to point to the newly uploaded edition.

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML
According to a simple check (using ReplaceText), there are about 4500 pages with Finale 1998-2014 scores available. Moreover, many of these pages have multiple editions in Finale format (eg. works with several movements or editions). However, not all of these are hosted on CPDL servers. The number o...

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML
Finale 2014 has the ability to export to MusicXML, including the 3.0 (.mxl) compressed file format. The compression, is very good. I just exported my 6-part SSATBB Ave verum corpus , and the resulting file size is only 21KB; whereas, the Finale 2014 source file is 147KB, and the PDF sheet music file...

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML
As one who has supplied some MusicXML files of works to someone for conversion to Braille, I heartily endorse the notion that MusicXML files of scores are welcome to be published, along with PDF, MP3 (or MIDI), and other source (eg. Finale or Sibelius) files. It would make sense for us to create a M...
