Re: Proposal to rename Bach's cantatas

Tx--sorry I overlooked that. Then I'm doubly neutral about the renaming. :)

Re: new cpdl logo design?

BTW, I just noticed that when I use Firefox, the graphic shown on the tab for www3 is the new (grey) logo, while www has the blue/green old globe. There may be an additional file that needs to be updated in the configuration of some of the servers.

Re: Proposal to rename Bach's cantatas

I'm neutral on the renaming. However, I don't see how this would necessarily make the site more searchable. Anyone searching by title can still do so using the search function, or by going to Bach's page which is sorted alphabetically. Where would it make things more searchable? BTW, do we have a pa...

Re: Malicious link

So it sounds like we can also conclude that the http://jennings.comule.com/Classic/Mend ... l/Paul.htm page that is linked to from the score on CPDL is not (at least currently) infected with anything that engages in non-consensual software installation.

Re: Malicious link

Carlos, can you clarify if the link through which you downloaded Noteworthy without MacKeeper from Noteworthy's site is the same as the link for downloading Noteworthy that http://jennings.comule.com/Classic/Mendelss/Paul/Paul.htm points to, or does the http://jennings.comule.com/Classic/Mendelss/Pa...

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML

The page on MusicXML format, as it currently reads, is essentially about one factor in considering format choice. So I think "Format Choice" is a closer description than "What format(s) should I use for my edition?" However, the latter is what we should aim for. If you or anyone ...

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML

I'll leave the others to reply about some other questions. Regarding generating a list of songs in MusicXML format, will you index only the ones with CPDL or appropriately derivate-work friendly Licensing type (e.g. certain Creative Commons type licenses supported on the site)? Or all licensing type...

music printing service and other services

In case others are interested, I wanted to post about the nice experience our chorus had recently with BCP Music Publishing (http://bcpmusic.org). We provided the electronic files and they shipped us a box (quickly!) with lovely sheet music scores for us. The work is done by someone familiar with ho...

Re: Increasing universal access to CPDL via MusicXML

Previous question: Is there any restriction on using the API to produce a periodically-updated list on an external site of works with MusicXML files, pointing back to the original pages on the CPDL? Previous reply: As far as I know, there are no such restrictions for what you propose. Is there some...

Re: Original choral music - buy once, copy forever!

"Buy once, copy forever" seems entirely accurate since it conveys that you Buy (now while the edition is copyrighted), then copy forever for the remainder of this license, and also can continue copying the edition forever beyond that once any copyright expires and it passes into the public...

Re: Modern vs Contemporary

Good question. Do you mean this category? http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Renaissance_music It is defined as: "A list of music composed in the Renaissance era (ca. 1400-1600)" Similarly, this category http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Renaissance_composers is defined ...

Re: Copyright: Carlo Rossini (1890-1975)

Interesting about the discrepancy regarding birth/date years! I wish that source had fewer typos. Should we annotate the composer's page with something like the note below right below the birth/death years? '''Note: Some [http://www.requiemsurvey.org/composers.php?id=2978 sources] indicate other bir...

Re: Modern vs Contemporary

I don't feel strongly on the subject, but I like the idea of the triple granularity in: Modern (c.1890–1930) Post-Modern (c.1930-1975) Contemporary (c.1975-present) I wonder if music history will keep Contemporary as the term a hundred years from now when there is a post-Contemporary category or two...

Re: Cleanup of subcategories

Similarly, Josquin's Nymphes and Absalon (http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Absalon,_fili_mi_%28Josquin_des_Prez%29 ) are both within Laments (I think Absalon should be under Sacred Laments or a subcategory of Sacred Laments titled David's Lament) , and I now think the unspecified term Laments shou...
