Texts only

Post by Methodood »

Hello,
I translated an English song in French. There is no copyright issue on the original renaissance text but I found no song page nor score published here. Is it a good idea to create a page just for the texts ? Thank you.
Edit :
I found these pages :
- Help:How can I add a text or translation?
- ChoralWiki:Texts of works not yet added
None convey the idea that there is a need for new texts/translations alone (without any scores), neither give a complete method like a standard page setup and update tips.
A policy statement should say "Yes, bring texts and update ChoralWiki" or "No, this is not our principal aim"!

Hiya. I think we don't usually do this because the main aim of CPDL is to provide vocal sheet music freely, not texts and translations, the latter being a bit of a bonus extra.

However, I've been out of the loop for a bit so don't take my word as gospel

Category Text pages http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Text_pages has examples of text only pages; these are mostly for texts shared among several works. While I agree with User:Bobnotts about the primary aim, CPDL is under construction, and I've made an edition-less page myself at http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Hymn ... Athenaeus)

You haven't told us any particulars though: is this a piece that is likely to have an edition in the future? Is it choral or something that might be more at home at https://www.lieder.net ?
