Thorough review of optical recognition software

Post by heinzr »

A month ago John Hinchey posted a thorough review of optical recognition software, covering PlayScore 2, ScanScore, PhotoScore and SmartScore (https://www.scoringnotes.com/reviews/a- ... -software/).

It was interesting to see PlayScore 2 being included - it is a relatively new product, and very different from the others: it runs on a phone or tablet (IOS and Android, no Windows or Mac version), its focus is playing music, and it is substantially less expensive. It exports MusicXML. It does not handle text, but the recognition engine is very capable, at least in my experience.

Have others tried it out? What is your experience?
