Looks like the server's down again.

We all appreciate the fact that CPDL is a free resource - but does it have to be so unreliable?

Unfortunately, the stanford server site that provides access to cpdl.org is down. We are hoping for a restoration of service soon. It just so happens that a recently established IT Operations group at CPDL has been working on upgrading the MediaWiki software that runs the CPDL ChoralWiki. A successful cloning experiment for the cpdl.org site was made yesterday afternoon (at a different site) from an August 24 backup. There are still several tweaks to be done with the clone, but at least we have a fallback position to a more recent state if it turns out that the stanford site has suffered as serious crash as that of last summer (which was down for an extend period of time with several months of work lost).

Thanks Chuck - that's good to know. I was a sufferer in last summer's collapse, so I guess that made me a bit sensitive!

Anyhow, it's great that you guys are onto it - and you have our thanks and gratitude.

The automatic monitoring service detected that the CPDL website was responding around 20:30 GMT, i.e., approximately one hour ago, and then going down again. I hope this is a sign of works in progress at Stanford.
