Hi Thomas,

As a matter of fact, your previous request for help on the Bulletin Board (here) was replied on the very same day by Robert, who added entries for your edition on the following page: Grande messe des morts, H 75 (Hector Berlioz). Perhaps you were looking for them under a different title as "Requiem", but when there is already another edition of a work, we usually add the new edition to the same page, keeping the original page title.

Thank you, and I apologize for not noticing this earlier. However, it is a little confusing I think that on the composer page for Berlioz, under Grande Messe du Mort, only the full score edition details are shown, suggesting that this is the only edition (which is why I didn't think mine was also there, until you suggested clicking on the title.) Wouldn't it make more sense to either display just the title, prompting the user to click on the title to see details for all editions, or to have the same detailed links for both editions on the composer page, or at least one link for each edition? Yes Thomas, I totally agree with you on this point. Duplication of information (that in IT we call "redundancy") is one of the primary causes of inconsistencies in any system. That's the case here at CPDL, because each time a new edition is added to a work page, the composer page has to be simultaneously updated, and for a variety of reasons even someone experienced as Robert may forget to do so. When I began contributing regularly to CPDL earlier this year, this was one of the main "project flaws" that I noticed, being the cause of double work and an uncountable number of inconsistencies as this one that fooled you. It was suggested to the other admins that we simpified the process of adding editions by leaving just the link to the work on the composer page (with the fringe benefit of ending up with a "cleaner" page), but you probably know how difficult it is to modify old traditions... lol

Carlos, let's remember about this when reviewing the performance indicators of the "Maintenance and Improvement" process.

This change does get the piano/vocal score visibly on the composer page, but it seems to confuse the issue by overlaying them on top of each other, now with direct links to the piano/vocal score, but not to the full score, and with the indication by the title that both editions are full (orchestral) scores. My inclination would be to either list both editions separately without movements with a single link to the existing detail page, or list all the movements available for each edition on the composer page, with all the movements for one followed by all the movements for the other. - Tom

Sorry, Tom, but as I've said, there is a standard to be followed, I just applied it. Perhaps in the future this may change!
