Why is the ChoralWiki so slow right now?

Over the past hour (it is presently about 09:45 CST), ChoralWiki has been at times extremely slow in loading pages and processing edits. Any reasons why? I enable "Show bots" for "Recent changes" to see if bots might be the problem, but there haven't been any bot edits during this period. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Today and yesterday the script that automatically performs a full back-up of the Choralwiki, and that "clones" everything to www1.cpdl.org, aborted. I had to complete the task by manually running some operations. This never happened since the beginning of January. I think that the hosting provider of http://www.cpdl.org has recently changed some settings concerning resource control. Today I've opened a support ticket towards the hosting provider, with elements for them to reproduce the problem. The ticket was submitted at 15:41 CET (08:41 CST), so I suppose that at that time the support staff were performing some tests.

I've just performed a traffic load test, injecting the equivalent of about 400 thousand page visits per day (this is about twice the average daily traffic). Time response in these conditions is now normal (around 1.1 seconds).
