Multi-Category limitations

I dearly love the Multi-Category search. Is there a movement afoot to expand the listings possibility? Limiting it to 200 listings is occasionally limiting - I occasionally cast a rather wide net, and the ability to only go to the letter "O" in alphabetical order is sometimes frustrating.

Yes, people have asked for this possibility before... I have just thought of a solution that may work, will post a message here tomorrow after I test it.

While not as user-friendly as Multi-category search, there is a Template:MultiCatList that will create a list of pages common to 2 or more (max=5 at present) categories, together with a few other options (documented as commented-out material inside the code for the template). For example, it includes optional parameters "skip=m" (defaulting to m=0) and "number=n" (defaulting to n=500, the maximum permissible number) which skip the first m pages and display n results.

Hi Bov, I have just finished testing the new feature and it's working fine. There is now an extra selection box titled "Limit" where this variable can be changed. It can be increased from the current 200 results to up to 2000 results (which is a de facto limit for this kind of searches), but please use this last option sparingly

The time required for the server to deliver larger results also increases proportionally: in some of my tests it took almost 12s for the results to be displayed. Because of this, when selecting a larger limit, the "Search" button will be unavailable (dimmed) for a longer time, after you click on it.
