A group of us in Bristol and surrounding area are starting a Pagan choir.

You don't have to be a Pagan to join, but the repertoire will consist of Pagan songs. We won't be doing cheesy chants or rip-offs of Christian songs either. To start with we will just be singing for fun, but we eventually hope to perform in public, if we get good enough.

We need sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. (So far we have some of each, but the more the merrier!) If you think you can't sing, don't worry, everyone can sing (well, almost everyone). The only pre-requisite is that you love singing and want to hang out with Pagans.

I daresay you've noticed CPDL tends to be have rather a lot of Christian church music of the past!

If you're looking for non-cheesy Pagan repertoire :-) a good friend of mine has written a pagan "song cycle" for soloists, choir, and small instrumental ensemble, entitled "Wheel of the Year". Her name is Leanne Daharja Veitch, which should be enough for you to Google to her website and get in touch.

I'm not a pagan myself so please forgive me if I get the movement titles wrong or out of order; I sang in the premiere a bit over a year or so ago, and the work was good to rehearse and sing; it's in about 10 movements of 20 minutes duration:

1. Invocation (instrumental only; the remaining nine movements are a mixture of solos and/or choir a cappella or with accompaniment)
2. Samhain
3. Yule
4. Imbolc
5. Ostara
6. Beltane
7. Midsummer song
8. Lammas
9. Mabon
10. Closing the circle

The CD itself is not completed but the song is up there and already published.
The words were written by a Druid lady from the USA (actually of English origin but living in the USA).
