Patron saint of musicians. I am singing Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia today. Hope there is music in everyone's day today...

Last Sunday I listened to the Oratory "The passion of St. Cecilia", which was performed in the church of St. Cecilia here in Rome. The church is built on the same area where Cecilia's house was located (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ceci ... Trastevere).

Today I'll have choir rehearsals instead, preparing Psalm 42 by Mendelssohn.

I love the Britten! I'll be rehearsing with the Phipps this evening - including my own piece "This Advent Moon" - and some good other stuff, too.

Corrected "Dec" to "Nov" in the subject - Mr. Pedantic strikes again! :D

Thanks for fixing that.

We also ended up singing the Lassus "Musica Est Dei Donum" a 6v (thanks to Edward Tambling).

What a marvelous occasion the St. Cecilia tribute on her home turf must have been! Glad to hear you're getting a nice dose of music too, Chuck, and that your Advent Moon is part of the mix.

I spent the 22nd engraving my edition of Benjamin Cooke's "Epitaph on the tombstone of Thomas Tallis at Greenwich who died November 23 1585". I can't post it until 26th or thereabouts. Terrible timing.

I sang the Lassus "Musica Dei Donum" a 6 many years ago from partbooks with the Chamber Chorus at the University of Virginia, and then several years ago with Zephyrus. It's a favorite of mine.

Engraving is a very worthy way to spend the time!
