Wikidata

Post by marnanel »

I would like to do a bulk import of the "General information" sections of ChoralWiki to Wikidata. Would this be reasonable and appropriate?

Wikidata is the database which connects all of Wikipedia together. For example, https://wikidata.org/wiki/Q128270954 is the record for Domini est terra. So for each song, the bulk import would fill in the sort of details listed there, along with an authority link back to ChoralWiki.

I particularly want to import these records because I'm in the middle of uploading scans of the Songbook of Zeghere van Male, and most (but not all) of the songs in it have no Wikidata entry. I could add those in bulk, but it would be much better to have useful data to link to.

I think the CPDL licence (for the metadata, not the actual scores) is compatible with the Wikidata metadata being public domain. Am I right?

Thanks for your inquiry and sorry for the delay. We're analyzing this and hope to have a response before long.
